My Fitness Background
I played soccer from the time I was in 5th grade into my first year of college - both in Japan and the US. Unfortunately, I dealt with multiple knee injuries and surgeries that ended my soccer career prematurely.
After getting married, I let my fitness go for many years until about 2009 - when my interest in the topic was reignited. I began educating myself about fitness and nutrition in a way that I never had, and started cycling for hours every week. I also started tracking my calorie intake and adjusted my diet, and ended up losing over 50lbs from my heaviest weight!
Over the years I’ve learned simple fitness routines and an approach to eating that have enabled me to maintain a top-10% fitness level - regardless of my age. While I’d occasionally give fitness and nutrition advice, I decided to take things next-level in 2025 and get my NASM personal training and nutrition coach certificates.
I can’t imagine many more amazing opportunities than to help others take better care of their bodies so they can better enjoy life and relationships!
In My Free Time
In my free time, I enjoy a variety of hobbies. My favorite thing is connecting with people - whether that's with my kids, my extended family, or close friends. At the end of the day, what we're left with that actually matters is connections with other people, and the value we're adding to their lives.
Speaking of connection, I started riding motorcycles in 2016 as a means of connecting with family. I've owned 11 bikes over the years - slow and fast - and enjoy everything from just cruising to riding on track. I hope to continue riding for years to come. There's nothing quite like 160mph on a bike!
I played soccer quite seriously into college, and still enjoy kicking the ball around - if I'm not watching game highlights of my favorite teams, or even attending a game in person. Though their record isn't great, my favorite games to attend have been US Men and US Women national team games, and getting to watch Ronaldinho or Leonel Messi play in person wasn't too bad either.
I absolutely love spending time in the gym - whether it's pushing hard with some high-intensity cardio, lifting heavy weight or just my bodyweight, or watching an action flick while walking on the treadmill.
Reading, listening to podcasts, and browsing a variety of content - both educational and entertaining - on YouTube rounds out the list, with an occasional movie thrown in. If I had to recommend one book to anyone, it would be ReAwaken the Giant Within, by Tony Robbins. A close second would be Living Untethered, by Michael Singer.
